Samba Dancers & Drummers
Brazilian ~ Carnaval ~ Dance & Drum
Representing Samba from Rio de Janeiro, Oy? Productions Samba Dancers & Drummers bring that same authentic Brazilian spirit to the streets of San Francisco. The culture of samba in Rio has grown from humble beginnings to the fantastic, spectacular samba school parade extravaganzas that now occur in the Sambadromo each year at Carnaval time. Oy? Productions Samba Dancers & Drummers is led by dancer Cevie Toure, formally the dance director for Jorge Alabe's Samba Troupe from 2004 until 2008.

Over the past 4 years Cevie Toure has dedicated herself to extensively studying and performing Brazilian dance such as Samba, Afro-Brazilian, Orisha, Afro-Brazilian Contemporary (mixture of Afro-Brazilian and modern dance movements), Frevo, Maculele, Afoxe and Maracatu. She has also studied ballet and modern dance, and currently teaches a class at Ashkenaz in preparation for the SF Carnaval.
